University Type and Campus :
3 universitys, 2 federal states, 1 research center. WasserCluster Lunz is a nonprofit research center shared to equal amounts by the University of Vienna, the Danube University Krems, and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU Vienna). The research center is financially supported by the Provincial Government of Lower Austria and the Municipality of Vienna.
Freshwater expertise combined with know-how. WasserCluster Lunz was founded 2005 to pursue basic and applied research on aquatic ecosystems around Lake Lunz and various other sites. Research questions of special interest are mainly questions of climate change, diversity research, water resource management and renaturation of waters. Since the foundation the research center grows. We started with 12 staff members, currently employees more than tripled. Especially the number of Postdocs, PhD and MSc students increased based on third party funding.
International connected. Numerous cooperations with universitys in Austria and abroad enable our international team to work on current questions of aquatic ecosystem research at the highest level. Moreover we constantly invite scientists from other countrys to hold seminars at our research center in the course of the WasserCluster Lunz Seminar Series. Researchers from all over the world have participated at international workshops and meetings in our house in the last years.
Advance education. Teaching is one of the main points in the WasserCluster philosophy. We pursue university and postgraduate training at an international level, contribute to research-education cooperations with schools and outreach activities to advance education and scientific outreach.
