The Aquaculture Support Scheme is funded through the generous support of the Scottish Aquaculture Research Forum (SARF). The funding has been provided to the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) to support aquaculture students and help facilitate their learning journey.

Eligibility for Aquaculture Support Scheme at University of the Highlands and Islands 2026

  • Applicant must be currently studying aquaculture or be about to begin an aquaculture programme or career.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a full-time or part-time programme at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).
  • Applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate, non-degree, apprenticeship, master's, or PhD programme.

Application Process

  • The applicant must complete and submit the application form given on the official website.

Value: The funding may contribute towards, but is not limited to:

  • Publication costs.
  • Attendance at events or site visits relevant to the training programme and/or dissertation.
  • Travel, subsistence, and accommodation expenses.
  • International travel, subject to matching funding being provided by other sources.
  • Short-course fees (as a contribution towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) qualifications).

Notes

  • Application deadlines are 24 October and 15 March each year.
  • Preference is given to students who normally reside in the Highlands and Islands. However, applications from students residing elsewhere in Scotland, the UK, and overseas will also be considered.
