The Thorley Sweetman Prize at University College Cork 2026

Introduction:

The Thorley Sweetman Prize is an academic award offered by University College Cork (UCC) to recognize excellence in geology. Established in memory of the late Dr. Thorley Sweetman, a postgraduate student and staff member in the Department of Geology (1979–1989).

Eligibility criteria for the Thorley Sweetman Prize at University College Cork:

• The applicants must be current University College Cork (UCC) students.
• The applicants must be enrolled in the BSc (Hons) Geology program and must submit a BSc (Hons) Geology mapping project.
• The project must receive the highest marks in the final honors examination.
• The scholarship doesnt have any nationality restrictions; it is open to all nationals 

Application Process:

• No separate application is required; the Eligible students are automatically considered based on their academic performance

Value of the Scholarship:

• A EUR 250 is awarded to support a full-time student.
