The Michael P Mortell Scholarship in Applied Mathematics at University College Cork 2026

Introduction 

The Michael P. Mortell Scholarship in applied mathematics is an academic scholarship awarded annually to support students pursuing a BSc (Hons) degree at the University College Cork with Applied Mathematics as one of their subjects. 

Eligibility requirements for the Michael P. Mortell Scholarship in Applied Mathematics at the University College Cork:

• The applicants must be current UCC students.
• The scholarship is awarded to the students pursuing science or arts and should achieve 70% of the available marks in either the first arts examination in applied mathematics or the first science examination in applied mathematics.
• Students must also be eligible for the award of a University Scholarship based on their First Year Examination results.
• There is no nationality restriction; the application is open for all the nationals.

Application Process:

• There is no separate application process. All eligible students are considered automatically.

Value of the Scholarship:

• A EUR 1,000 is awarded to support a full-time student.

NOTE:

• Students receiving higher education grants or other awards may not receive the full scholarship value if regulations on combined financial support apply. The scholarship may be withdrawn if the scholar’s attendance, academic progress, or conduct is considered unsatisfactory by the scholarship board.
