In 1974, Howard Fortnam Sleath donated a set of four string instruments (two violins, a viola, and a cello) to the University of Queensland's Department of Music. After his passing, the University received a bequest from Howard Sleath to support the study of bowed string instruments. Established in 1998, the annual Sleath String Performance Prize is one of the initiatives funded by this bequest.
Eligibility Criteria for Sleath String Performance Prize at University of Queensland 2024:
- Applicants must be enrolled in either the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music (Honours) programs.
- Applicants may also enrol in a dual program that includes either the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music (Honours).
