SEMILLA Teacher Fellowship at Santa Clara University 2025

This Fellowship was created to provide a 50% tuition scholarship to students pursuing the Master of Arts in Teaching and Teaching Credential (MATTC) program. Students complete coursework at our East San Jose campus, engage in community service, and agree to teach at a high-need school for two years following graduation.

Eligibility Criteria:

• The applicants must be pursuing the Master of Arts in Teaching and Teaching Credential (MATTC).
• The applicants must be admitted to the Santa Clara University of East San Jose campus.
• The applicants can be any student admitted to the university, provided they are teacher candidates.

Application Process:

• Interested candidates must apply online for the scholarship. 
• Selected candidates must agree to the following conditions:
  • Candidates must successfully complete the MATTC program and be awarded a preliminary teaching credential from the State of California.
  • Candidates must teach for two years post-degree/post-preliminary credential in a High-Need School that is predominantly comprised of an underserved Latina/o student population within four years of completing the MATTC program.
  • Candidates must provide 30-hours of community service at the East San Jose campus during the time of enrollment in MATTC.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a minimum of 18 units at the East San Jose campus.

Value of the Fellowship:

• Selected fellows are awarded 50% of the tuition-related cost of obtaining a Master of Arts in Teaching and Teaching Credential from SECP.
