The purpose of the LB Wood Scholarship is to allow recent New Zealand graduates to pursue any course of study at a UK university or university-level institution. The money from a 1934 bequest left to the University of New Zealand by retiring Inspector of Schools Lawrence Berry Wood is used to support this scholarship.

Eligibility criteria for the LB Wood Scholarship:

Applicants must be graduates of or graduating from a New Zealand university
Applicants must apply for the scholarship within three years from the date of their graduation
Applicants must have applied for or been awarded another postgraduate scholarship.

Value of the LB Wood Scholarship:

The scholarship awards $3,000 per year for up to three years. Tenure begins in the same year the award is made. One scholarship is awarded annually.

Application process:

Interested applicants must apply online before 1st April 2026.
