John O Brien Memorial Coursework Scholarships 2025

The John O'Brien Memorial Fund was created in 2008 through a bequest to provide a perpetual memorial fund. The bequest's goal is to fund scholarships for University of Sydney Law School students studying criminal law in particular. given yearly to new Master of Criminology students based on curriculum.

Eligibility for John O'Brien Memorial Coursework Scholarships:

• The candidate must get an unconditional admission offer from Sydney Law School for a Master of Criminology program to be eligible for the scholarship.
• Applications from students who have already started their Master of Criminology program or who are transferring from another postgraduate school are not accepted.
• In their previous tertiary studies, applicants must have received a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70 or above.

Selection Criteria:

• A personal statement that highlights the candidate's background in the workforce and their dedication to using the knowledge gained from the Master of Criminology program to improve the criminal justice system
• A selection committee made up of the head of school, the dean of the University of Sydney Law School, or their designee, and at least one other staff member from the school will grant the scholarship.

Value of the Scholarship:

• AUD 10,000 per year if you are enrolled full-time (24 credit points per semester)
• AUD 5,000 per year if you are enrolled part-time (12 credit points per semester).
