John Busteed Memorial Prize in Economics at University College Cork 2026

Introduction:

The John Busteed Memorial Prize in Economics honors Professor John Busteed, former professor of economics and dean of the Faculty of Commerce at University College Cork (UCC). The prize provides an award to a student who has outstanding academic performance in economics.

Eligibility criteria for the John Busteed Memorial Prize in Economics at University College Cork:

• The applicants must be a current University College Cork (UCC) student.
• The applicants must be studying economics in one of the programs: 
  • Arts I, II & III;
  • Commerce I, II, III & IV 
  • BA (Economics Through Transformational Learning) I, II, III & IV
• The prize is awarded to the student who achieves the highest average mark in economics modules within each eligible year/program.

Application Process:

• There is no separate application required; the eligible students are considered automatically 

Value of the Scholarship:

• A prize of up to EUR 100 per student and a parchment is awarded to support a full-time student.
