Eligibility Criteria for Graduate Student Parental Leave Bursary:

Applicants must:

Be a full-time or part-time graduate student at the university with no outstanding fees.
Have been registered for at least one academic term before the parental leave begins.
Be receiving financial support such as a Teaching Assistantship (TA), Research Assistantship (RA), scholarship, bursary, or award.
Be taking an approved parental leave, including adoption leave.
Not undertake employment in any capacity within the University of Waterloo during the bursary term.

Value of Graduate Student Parental Leave Bursary:

The bursary provides funding of up to $8,000:

Up to $5,000 for the first academic term.
Up to $3,000 for the second academic term.

Applicants must:

Complete the Graduate Student Parental Leave Bursary application form.
Attach all required supporting documentation.
Submit the completed application package to Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA).
