The Kate Challis RAKA Award celebrates Indigenous creative artists. In 2025, the award supports the best book of poems written by an Indigenous author and published in the preceding five years.
Eligibility for Kate Challis RAKA Award:
Applicants must:
- have published a book of fiction written in English between 2021 and 2026;
- be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
- submit all required application materials before the deadline.
Value of Kate Challis RAKA Award:
Up to $25,000 is available, and only one award will be offered from this amount. Award payments will be made as a single lump-sum.
Application Process:
Applicants/publishers must complete the online application form and submit:
- copies of the book to six judges (postal details provided after application submission);
- a 500-word artist statement outlining creative development over the past five years;
- a two-page resume;
- any additional supporting information relevant to the application.
