Fly Fishers Club of Orange County Scholarship

The Fly Fishers Club of Orange County Scholarship supports CSU students pursuing marine-related studies and demonstrates a commitment to community service in the fisheries biology field. This scholarship honors the memory of Richard Fanning, an advocate for educational opportunity and an avid fly fisher.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Enrollment Status:

• Must be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in marine-related studies at a CSU campus or as a part-time graduate student in marine-related studies at a CSU campus, and must remain enrolled at that status during the academic year.

Academic Standing:

• Must be in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Financial Need:

• Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the campus financial aid office.

Commitment to Community Service:

• Must demonstrate a commitment to community service specifically in the fisheries biology field. 

Award Value

Award Amount:

• One $3,000 scholarship will be awarded for the academic year. 

Application Process

Complete the CSU Foundation Application:

• Eligible students must complete the CSU Foundation application, which will be available in February.

Review by Financial Aid Office:

• The campus financial aid office will review the applications to ensure students meet all the stated requirements.

Note of Appreciation:

• Prior to receiving the scholarship funds, the selected recipient must provide a note of appreciation to the Fly Fishers Club of Orange County.
• Recipients are encouraged to send email updates to the club at the end of each term.
