Erskine Smith Memorial Award for the Performing and Visual Arts at Holland College 2026

Introduction: 

The Erskine Smith Memorial Award for the Performing and Visual Arts was established by family and friends in memory of Erskine Smith, founder and Artistic Director of the Victoria Playhouse. The award honours his dedication to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring young people in the theatrical and visual arts.

Eligibility requirement for Erskine Smith Memorial Award for the Performing and Visual Arts at Holland College:

• Be entering their first year of studies in one of the following programs:
  • Music Performance
  • Fundamental Arts
  • Graphic Design
  • Photography and Videography
  • Video Game Art and Animation
• Demonstrate exceptional promise in the arts.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Submit an essay outlining:
  • Professional potential in the arts, and
  • Financial need for the award.

Value of the scholarship:

A CAD 1,180 is awarded to support a full-time student

Application Process:

• Apply for admission to one of the eligible Holland College arts programs.
• Access the Holland College awards application portal.
• Complete the scholarship application before the deadline (April 2, 2026).
• Submit a required essay explaining:
  • Your artistic potential, and
  • Your financial need.
• Ensure all required documents and responses are submitted before the deadline.
