Eligibility Criteria for the E. Eugene Carter Opportunity Award at Northern Arizona University 2025:

Applicants Must:

• Be a full-time student.
• Be a selected sophomore or in the first semester of the junior year (30-74 credits).
• Be pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering (including computer science, informatics, and cybersecurity).
• Complete the degree within 6 years of matriculation.
• Be female and Hispanic.
• Preferably be an immigrant or a daughter of immigrants.
• Preferably be involved in SWE (Society of Women Engineers) or SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) or have a federal work-study job on campus.
• Preferably be acting as a tutor or mentor or be involved with first-generation college students.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Awards are not based on GPA but on hardship and the risk of not completing the degree

Value of the E. Eugene Carter Opportunity Award at Northern Arizona University 2025:

The award includes subsidized federal loan repayment, up to $20,000, and can be used to support educational expenses.
