Eligibility Criteria for DataLab/School of Geosciences Scholarships in GIS at University of Edinburgh:

• Be an ordinary resident in Scotland (as per Scottish Government residency rules)
• Have the right to live and work in the UK
• Have lived in Scotland for at least 3 years (not for full-time education)
• Apply for and receive an offer (conditional or unconditional) for the MSc GISEO program
• Be a new full-time student starting in 2026–2027
• Meet academic requirements:
  • UK 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent) OR
  • 2:2 degree + at least 3 years of relevant GIS work experience
• Submit a one-page personal statement
• Not have already started the program
• Not apply for part-time study

Value of DataLab/School of Geosciences Scholarships in GIS at University of Edinburgh:

• One fully funded scholarship covering full tuition fees.
• Access to Data Lab training and networking events (mandatory and exclusive to Data Lab scholars).
• Deposit fee waived (or refunded if already paid).

Application Process:

• Have a conditional or unconditional offer for the MSc GIS programme.
• Prepare a one-page Personal Statement covering:
  • Interest in data science in GIScience
  • Career ambitions in spatial data science

• Conditional offers must become unconditional before funding can be awarded.
• If shortlisted, the applicant must confirm course choices and accept Data Lab terms and conditions.
