    Charles Blackall Journalists' Scholarship

    The Charles Blackall Journalists' Scholarship supports journalism students experiencing financial hardship by assisting with accommodation expenses while they complete their studies at RMIT.

    Eligibility criteria for the Charles Blackall Journalists' Scholarship:

    • Applicants must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, permanent humanitarian visa holder, or international student in Australia.
    • Applicants must be enrolling full-time in Semester 1, 2027, in either Graduate Diploma in Journalism (GD074) or Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) (BP220) and have completed at least 96 credit points by the end of 2025.
    • Applicants must have at least six months of full-time study remaining.
    • Applicants must be experiencing financial hardship.
    • Applicants must demonstrate accommodation expenses that the scholarship will support.
    • Applicants must have authored at least one published and paid journalistic work, including eligible paid freelance work.
    • Student publications and self-published blogs with fewer than 1,000 unique readers do not qualify as journalistic work.
    • Successful recipients must use the scholarship funds for accommodation expenses.

    Application process for the Charles Blackall Journalists' Scholarship:
