Her family founded the Candice Wentlandt Memorial Scholarship. After participating in the University of Wisconsin Marching Band for five years, Candice graduated in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in special education. Following graduation, she worked as a cross-categorical teacher at Madison's Kennedy Elementary School, where she devoted her life to defending her pupils' rights. When she passed away in 2016, she was enrolled at the School of Education to pursue a master's degree.
