The Asia Foundation is a nonprofit international development organization committed to â€œimproving lives across a dynamic and developing Asia.â€ Informed by six decades of experience and deep local expertise, its programs address critical issues affecting Asia in the 21st centuryâ€”governance and law, economic development, women's empowerment, environment, and regional cooperation. Headquartered in San Francisco, The Asia Foundation works through a network of 18 offices in 18 Asian countries and in Washington, DC. Founded in 1954. The Foundation marked its 60 years of experience in Asia working with private and public partners in the areas of leadership and institutional development, exchanges, and policy research. Starting January 1, 2011, David D. Arnold serves as president of the Foundation. The Foundation is governed by an eminent and well-known group of private sector trustees.
