    Protect our Islands Pasifika Award at Victoria University of Wellington

    The Protect Our Islands Pasifika Award, offered by Pacific Biosecurity Limited, supports Pasifika students pursuing studies in ecology and environmental science. It provides financial assistance to students majoring or intending to major in fields such as Climate Change Science and Policy, Conservation Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, or Marine Conservation, encouraging them to apply their skills to benefit their communities in Aotearoa and the wider Pacific.

    Eligibility Criteria of Protect our Islands Pasifika Award:

    1. Applicants must be of Pacific descent and enrolled (or intending to enrol) full- or part-time in undergraduate or postgraduate studies at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, excluding school leavers.
    2. Applicants must be majoring or intending to major in Climate Change Science and Policy, Conservation Biology, Ecological Restoration, Ecology and Biodiversity, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Marine Biology, or Marine Conservation.
    3. Applicants must hold a GPA of 6.5 or above and meet the entry requirements for their chosen course of study.

    Selection Criteria: Selection will be based on academic merit and commitment to the field of study.

    Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

    Award: NZD 5,000 for undergraduate, NZD 7,500 for postgraduate.

    Note:

    1. The award will be paid after the final withdrawal period of Trimester 1, and recipients must write a thank-you letter to the donor and a brief end-of-year progress report.
    2. Pacific Biosecurity Limited provides mentoring to recipients upon request.
