Dale M. Schoettler Scholarship for Visually Impaired Students
The Dale M. Schoettler Scholarship for Visually Impaired Students was established in 1991 in honor of Mr. Dale M. Schoettler, a successful businessman who faced blindness for the last eight years of his life. This scholarship supports visually impaired students pursuing their education at California State University campuses.

Eligibility Requirement

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

• GPA Requirement:
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale, which must be maintained during the academic year in which the award is received.

Enrollment Status:

• Applicants must be enrolled in 6.1 units or more as an undergraduate or graduate student at a CSU campus and must maintain this enrollment throughout the academic year.

Visual Disability:

• Applicants must have a visual impairment as defined by the CSU.
• This includes:
  • Blindness or partial sight to a degree that significantly impacts the educational process and may require accommodations or support services.
  • Disability Support Services Registration:
    • The CSU Foundation will confirm that applicants are registered with their campus Disability Support Services office to verify their visual impairment.

Award Value - 46 scholarships of $10,000 each will be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Application Form:

• Eligible students must complete the CSU Foundation application available HERE.

Financial Aid and Disability Support Services:

• Financial aid offices should provide information to students about the availability of this scholarship.
• Students must also work with the services for students with disabilities office on their campus.

Eligibility Confirmation:

• The CSU Foundation will verify that applicants are registered with their campus Disability Support Services office.

Reapplying:

• Students who have been previously nominated or awarded the Schoettler scholarship may reapply each year they meet the eligibility requirements.

Deadline:

• The scholarship accepts applications on a year-round basis. However, applicants are encouraged to contact their campus financial aid office for specific deadline details.
