Clark (Mile-End) Bursary Fund at the University of Glasgow
The Clark (Mile-End) Bursary Fund is a charitable endowment created in 1868 by John Clark, a Paisley-based thread manufacturer and noted Victorian philanthropist. The fund operates under regulations set out in a 1974 Scheme, which was later updated with approval from the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator in 2013.
Eligibility Criteria of Clark (Mile-End) Bursary Fund:
- The applicants who already hold an honours degree from the University of Glasgow or Strathclyde can apply if they are currently studying for, or applying to study for, a further degree or postgraduate course at either of these universities or at any other university in the UK or abroad.
- The applicants who have completed an honours degree from any other university in the UK or overseas can also apply, provided they are now studying for, or applying to study for, a subsequent degree or postgraduate course at the University of Glasgow or Strathclyde.
Application Process:
- The applicants must show strong academic performance in their undergraduate studies and also provide evidence of meaningful involvement in extra-curricular activities.
- The applicants shortlisted for consideration will be interviewed in Glasgow during a Governors’ meeting in November, and those interviewed are generally informed within a week about the outcome, with awards usually paid soon after.
Award: Between GBP 500 and GBP 1,500.
Note: Applicants who are selected for further consideration will be invited to interview in Glasgow at the end of October, and candidates who have been unsuccessful will be advised shortly thereafter in early November.
