Southern Cross Nursing Scholarship Undergraduate at Auckland University of Technology 2027:

The Southern Cross Nursing Scholarship – Undergraduate supports students undertaking the Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) who demonstrate a passion for nursing and face personal, financial, family, or other barriers to education.

Eligibility Criteria for the Southern Cross Nursing Scholarship Undergraduate at Auckland University of Technology 2027:

• Applicant must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident and have lived in New Zealand for at least the previous two years.
• Applicant must have applied for a full-time Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) study at AUT commencing in the semester following application.
• Applicant must hold a provisional or firm offer of place for the relevant intake.
• Applicant must come from a diverse or under-represented group or a background of hardship and face, or potentially face, barriers to accessing education.
• Applicant must demonstrate a passion for nursing and a commitment to pursuing a nursing career.

Application Process for the Southern Cross Nursing Scholarship Undergraduate at Auckland University of Technology 2027:

• Apply through the AUT online scholarships portal.
• Provide an AUT Student ID.
• Submit an NCEA or equivalent secondary qualification transcript, or transcripts for previous tertiary study completed outside AUT.
• Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words or a recorded video explaining why the applicant should receive the scholarship.
• Provide relevant information about cultural/community activities, personal circumstances, and future career goals.
• Submit a CV of up to two pages.

Selection Criteria:

• Applications are assessed by a panel representing the Trust, Southern Cross Healthcare, and AUT.
• Shortlisted applicants are interviewed.
• The selection panel's decision is final.
• Applicants are notified of the outcome by the AUT Scholarships Office.

Value of the Scholarship:

• 6 scholarships are available for first-year students commencing in 2027:
  • 3 for Semester 1
  • 3 for Semester 2
• Year 1: NZD 5,000 tuition contribution + NZD 1,000 clinical placement support + NZD 500 health and wellbeing allowance.
• Year 2: NZD 5,000 tuition contribution + NZD 500 per week for clinical placement living costs + NZD 500 health and wellbeing allowance.
• Year 3: NZD 5,000 tuition contribution + NZD 500 per week for clinical placement living costs + NZD 500 health and wellbeing allowance + Nursing Council examination fee.
• Non-financial benefits include priority clinical placements, a Southern Cross nurse mentor, and additional learning opportunities.

Notes:

• The scholarship is tenable for three years of full-time Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) study.
• Recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress and provide annual study updates and feedback.
• Recipients must declare other scholarships, awards, and grants and obtain approval to hold additional scholarships.
• Academic progress is monitored each semester.
• Recipients may be required to repay scholarship funding if they do not complete at least two consecutive semesters of study at AUT while receiving the scholarship.
