Marion Rayward Memorial Scholarship in Music at Victoria University of Wellington
The Marion Rayward Memorial Scholarship in Music supports music teachers or teachers-in-training to undertake study, research, or practical work in music. It was established to honour Marion Rayward’s significant contributions as a teacher, adviser, and lecturer in music education.
Eligibility Criteria of Marion Rayward Memorial Scholarship in Music:
- The scholarship is open to students planning postgraduate research in Music Education at the New Zealand School of Music – Te Kōkī, with preference for Master’s or Doctoral research.
- Honours level research or projects, especially those leading to a qualification or enhancing professional practice, may also be considered.
Selection Criteria:
- Applicants for the scholarship must be intending to undertake research at Masters or PhD level. Honours level applicants may be considered.
- Applicants must be intending to undertake research in the field of Music Education at the New Zealand School of Music, Victoria University of Wellington.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 15,000.

- The value of this scholarship will be paid as an equal monthly stipend.
- The recipient will be expected to demonstrate engagement and contribute to the community and environment of the New Zealand School of Music. This may include but is not limited to, participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances at NZSM or university events.
