Overview

For Indigenous students, access to higher education is a significant challenge when it comes to finances. Because of the ongoing underrepresentation of Indigenous students in post-graduate clinical psychology schools, the percentage of registered psychologists who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander psychologists is substantially below 1%. To address these significant workforce shortages, we want to retain, encourage, and assist our Indigenous students as they pursue careers as clinical psychologists by providing a scholarship for each full-time year in our Clinical Psychology program at UNE.

Eligibility for Indigenous Postgraduate Professional Psychology Scholarship at UNE:

  • The applicant must be an Australian permanent resident or an Australian citizen.
  • By the UNE Confirmation of Aboriginality and Torres Strait Islander Identity Rule, the applicant must certify that they are an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and submit supporting evidence.
  • Course and Student Requirements: Accepting new or returning students enrolled in any of the following programs:
    • Master of Psychology (Clinical)
    • Master of Professional Psychology
