Northampton Energy Elite Athlete Scholarship at University of Northampton 2026:

Established in 2021/22, the Northampton Energy Elite Athlete Scholarship provides student athletes with a dedicated support network to help them balance the demands of performance sport and academic study. The programme is a TASS dual-career accredited scheme and offers specialist sporting, wellbeing, and academic support to selected athletes.

Eligibility Criteria at the Northampton Energy Elite Athlete Scholarship at University of Northampton 2026:

• Applicant must be an undergraduate or postgraduate student at the University of Northampton.
• Applicant must compete at county level or above in an individual sport.
• Applicant competing in a team sport must compete at academy or performance pathway level.
• Applicant must demonstrate a sufficiently high level of sporting performance.
• Applicant may apply regardless of whether their sport is part of BUCS, as applications are assessed individually based on performance level.
• Applicant may be a UK or international student.
• Applicant must be competing in a recognised sport.

Application Process for the Northampton Energy Elite Athlete Scholarship at University of Northampton 2026:

• Applicant must complete the online scholarship application form.
• Applicant must provide a personal statement outlining their sporting background, key achievements, future goals, and how they intend to balance academic and sporting commitments.
• Applicant must provide evidence of sporting performance.
• Applicant must provide a reference from a coach or National Governing Body (NGB).
• Applicant's application will be reviewed by the Performance Sport Team.
• Applicant who is shortlisted must attend an interview before final decisions are made.

Value of the Scholarship:

The Northampton Energy Elite Athlete Scholarship is primarily a sporting support package rather than a tuition fee scholarship. Successful athletes receive access to:

• Performance testing up to three times per year, including movement screening focused on injury prevention.
• Strength and conditioning support, with up to three weekly individualised sessions available.
• Weekly rehabilitation clinics.
• Sports psychology support, including one-to-one guidance on mindset, confidence, focus, and managing competitive pressure.
• Nutrition workshops and practical nutritional guidance.
• Media training to support athletes in developing their sporting profile and media skills.
• Flexible learning options to help balance academic study and sport.
• University of Northampton-branded training kit.
