David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health 2026

​The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL) offers the prestigious David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health to a limited number of applicants for the MSc in Global Plant Health.

Eligibility for David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health:

For a full MSc Scholarship:

• Hold an offer for the MSc in Global Plant Health at University of East Anglia.
• Be a national of or domiciled in a least-developed, low-income, or lower-middle-income country.
• Demonstrate strong academic background and relevant scientific knowledge.
• Show commitment to returning to their home country within five years to address plant health challenges.

For 50% Fee Scholarship:

• Hold an offer for the MSc in Global Plant Health at University of East Anglia
• Be from an upper-middle or high-income country (including the UK)
• Demonstrate strong academic merit and relevant subject knowledge
• Show intent to contribute to plant health challenges, particularly in lower-income countries.

Value of the David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health:

A full scholarship covers tuition fees, a maintenance stipend (~£20,780 based on the previous year), and up to £4,000 for travel; a partial scholarship covers up to 50% of tuition fees.

Application Process:

Applicants must apply for admission to the MSc in Global Plant Health; eligible candidates are automatically considered after receiving an offer. Shortlisted applicants must submit a statement of intent outlining their plans to address plant health challenges.
