The Marie Clay Literacy Trust Trainer Doctoral Scholarship at University of Auckland 2027:

The Marie Clay Literacy Trust Trainer Doctoral Scholarship was established in 2022 and is funded by The Marie Clay Literacy Trust. The scholarship supports doctoral students undertaking research related to Reading Recovery at the University of Auckland.

Eligibility Criteria for the Marie Clay Literacy Trust Trainer Doctoral Scholarship at University of Auckland 2027:

• Applicant must be undertaking a PhD or EdD in the Faculty of Arts and Education at the University of Auckland.
• Applicant must propose research that is related to Reading Recovery.
• Applicant's research supervision must include a member of the School of Curriculum and Pedagogy.
• For PhD study:
  • Applicant may be a domestic or international student.
  • International applicants must be eligible to study under the PhD domestic tuition-fees policy.
• For EdD study:
  • Applicant must be a domestic student.
• Applicant must meet all requirements for admission to the intended doctoral programme before taking up the scholarship.

Application Process for the Marie Clay Literacy Trust Trainer Doctoral Scholarship at University of Auckland 2027:

• Complete and submit the scholarship application form to the Scholarships Office.
• Applications usually open approximately six weeks before the closing date.

Selection Criteria:

• Applications are assessed by a Selection Committee.
• The scholarship is awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.
• Selection is based on:
  • Academic merit
  • Quality, nature, and relevance of the proposed research
  • Endorsement by the main supervisor
  • How the applicant intends to use the funding to benefit Reading Recovery, as outlined in the personal statement.
• Academic merit may be assessed through the applicant's:
  • Academic record
  • Standing of the awarding institution
  • Academic references
  • CV
  • Research and publication record
• The Selection Committee comprises:
  • Curriculum and Pedagogy Discipline Director or nominee
  • Director of Reading Recovery or nominee
  • One representative of The Marie Clay Literacy Trust.

Value of the Scholarship:

• Up to NZD 70,000 per annum in total for up to 36 months full-time equivalent.
• The award comprises:
  • Fortnightly stipend
  • Compulsory fees for eligible domestic EdD students and eligible domestic or international PhD students.
  • Compulsory international student health insurance, where applicable.

Notes:

• One scholarship is awarded every three years.
• International PhD applicants must qualify for the PhD domestic tuition-fees policy to receive the applicable fees component.
