Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research (MFMER) is offering Mayo Clinic International Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowships (Minnesota) to international candidates who completed a general surgery residency in a program that is non-accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Eligibility Critieria for the Fellowship:

  • Applicants must identify as international candidates.
  • Applicants must have completed a general surgery residency program.
  • Applicants (outside US and Canada medical schools) must be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.

Application Process:

All eligible candidate must first inquire about the availability of the program with the Education Program Coordinator (rstcrseducation@mayo.edu). If available, the application should include the following components:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Photograph of the applicant
  • Personal statement
  • A valid ECFMG certificate
  • Copy of medical school diploma
  • Official medical school transcripts
  • Medical school performance evaluation (MSPE) — "Dean's letter"
  • Letter of recommendation from the program director
  • Official test transcripts for all applicable examinations ( FMGEMS, ABSITE, LMCC, USMLE, COMLEX, NBOME, FLEX or NBME)
  • At least two other letters of recommendation from others
