Overview

GSLS Travel Fellowships offer GSLS doctoral researchers in Life Sciences the opportunity to participate in international conferences and workshops (active participation, talk, or poster presentation is a prerequisite) or support a research stay in a foreign laboratory. 

Eligibility for the Travel Fellowship:

  • Applicants may come from any nationality.
  • Applicants must be doctoral researchers enrolled in the Graduate School of Life Sciences at the university.
  • Applicants must apply at least 14 days before the event (international conference or research stay) takes place.

Application Process:

All eligible candidates must submit the following documents to complete the fellowship application:

  • A statement of motivation detailing the conference or research stay
  • A copy of the candidate's talk or poster abstract
  • Verification of the talk or poster presentation acceptance by the conference organizers
  • An approximate breakdown of estimated or actual costs of the conference/research stay
  • Current CV, including the publication record
  • A reference letter from the primary supervisor
  • Information about other types of travel funding the candidate is applying for or has received.

Value of GSLS Travel Fellowships:

Funding for travel fellowships is based on the location of the meeting or activity attended:

  • Germany: up to 300 EUR.
  • Europe: up to 500 EUR.
  • Overseas: up to 1,000 EUR.
