Overview

The University of Auckland received a donation from Miss Mary Herbert in 1973, which founded the Prize. Constance Herbert was Miss Herbert's sister and the Music Mistress of St. Cuthbert's College for Girls from 1927 until 1958.

Eligibility Criteria for Constance Herbert Memorial Music Prize 2026:

  • Students need to be enrolled in a Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music conjoint degree.
  • Students should have completed at least the first year of their degree and have achieved the highest marks in Performance courses in Stage I level.
  • Students must hold an offer in an eligible course with the university.

Selection Process:

  • Nomination is made to the Scholarships Office
  • The Prize is awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Music
