Description:
This Award was established in 2018 and is funded by David Hare, who has recently completed the final year of a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Theological and Religious Studies and Politics and International Relations, to research the structural issues behind impoverishment and the theological and political implications of social justice. The main purpose of the Award is to encourage students to explore and challenge traditional boundaries and religious thought through interdisciplinary study.
Eligibility for the David Hare Award in Theological and Religious Studies:
- Candidate must have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees for full-time enrolment in Stage II of a Bachelor of Arts degree or Bachelor of Arts conjoint degree, majoring in Theological and Religious Studies in the Faculty of Arts.
- Students must submit the essay as part of their coursework that best challenges or expands the boundaries of traditional study in theological and religious thought through creative and academically rigorous engagement with other disciplines in a Stage Two course in the Bachelor of Arts Schedule for Theological and Religious Studies major in the year of the award.
- The Award will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Deputy Head (Academic) of the School of Humanities (or nominee), an academic staff member from the disciplinary area of Theological and Religious Studies, and a representative of the donor.
