Overview

Lloyd Geering founded this scholarship in honor of his late wife Elaine Geering. Until she died in 2001, Elaine was pursuing a PhD in English literature at Victoria University of Wellington. She had a special interest in Old English and Medieval Literature. The goal is to support the Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington students pursuing research or courses in the English department, as well as those who completed their undergraduate studies at Victoria University of Wellington and are currently enrolled in postgraduate English study at an authorized international institution.

Eligibility Criteria for Elaine Geering Scholarship in English Literature:

  • Applicants must enroll in a Master's or PhD program in English Literature at the university.
  • Applicants must be citizens and permanent residents of New Zealand.
  • Applicants must exhibit good academic standing.

Application Process:

A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. 

Value of the Elaine Geering Scholarship in English Literature:

The successful candidates are awarded a sum of NZD 3,000.

Note: Recipients must write a letter of thanks and an end-of-year progress report to the donor of this scholarship.
