Overview
The Vice-Chancellor's PhD Scholarships (VCPS) funded by RMIT University are awarded based on academic excellence and research potential to local and international candidates undertaking a research doctoral degree.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must hold or complete a Master by Research, a Master by Coursework with a significant research component, first-class Honours, or equivalent qualifications.
- Exception may be granted for candidates with previous publications or significant research experience.
- The candidate must be an Australian, New Zealand Citizen, Permanent Resident of Australia, or international candidate commencing an RMIT PhD program from January 1, 2027.
- Candidate must have applied for a full-time PhD program at RMIT.
Application process:
- Applicants must follow the scholarship application process, including evidence of contact with the proposed supervisor.
- Completion of the VCPS Expression of Interest form is required.

- Deadlines: 30 Oct for Domestic students, 30 Sep for International students.
Value of the scholarship:
- Stipend of AUD 48,299 per annum pro rata (full-time study)
- Research support allowance of AUD 5,000 per annum
- International candidates receive an RMIT Research International Tuition Fee Scholarship
- Local candidates are provided with an RTP Fee Offset scholarship
- Relocation allowance up to AUD 1,540
- Paid sick, maternity, and parenting leave
- Cost coverage for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for international candidates
