The university of Southampton Ph.D. in Photonics, 2017is open to students who are interested in conducting research at the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants of the university of Southampton Ph.D. in Photonics, 2017 should possess either a first or upper second class degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area from a recognized university.
  • Basic knowledge in mathematics is required.
  • The Ph.D. project is multidisciplinary and so people from backgrounds of science and engineering backgrounds will also be considered but the entry requirements will vary for each individual.

The University of Southampton (abbreviated as Soton in post-nominal letters) is a public research university located in Southampton, England. The origins of the university date back to the founding of the Hartley Institution in 1862 following a legacy to the Corporation of Southampton by Henry Robinson Hartley. In 1902, the Institution developed into the Hartley University College awarding degrees from the University of London. On 29 April 1952, the institution was granted a Royal Charter to give the University of Southampton full university status, allowing it to award its own degrees.
