Eligibility Criteria for the University of Edinburgh Doctoral College Scholarship:

Applicants must:

  • Have applied for admission to a full-time or part-time PhD (on-campus or PhD by Distance) at the University of Edinburgh, starting September 2026.
  • Not already hold a PhD or equivalent research qualification.
  • Meet or expect to meet the entry requirements for their chosen PhD programme.
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic merit and research potential.
  • Submit English language test results (if applicable).
    Be available to undertake required training and development activities as part of the scholarship.

  • Apply for PhD admission by 19 Jan 2026.
  • Log in to MyEd once you have your University login.
  • Submit the scholarship application via EUCLID by 2 Feb 2026 (23:59 GMT).

Value of the Scholarship:

  • Full tuition fee coverage
  • Annual stipend: Equal to the UKRI minimum rate (approx. £20,780 per year)
  • Duration: Up to 3.5 years (or pro-rata for part-time study)

Note: This award cannot be held concurrently with another fully funded scholarship but may be held with partially funded awards (pro rata reduction applies).
