The Department of Surgery established the Orthopaedic Surgery Prize in 2012 to honor the significance of musculoskeletal disorders in the general public. The primary goal of the prize is to identify the student who, after combining their marks from the examination and the ward attachment, receives the highest overall score in the MBChB Part IV Musculoskeletal attachment.
Eligibility for University of Auckland Orthopaedic Surgery Prize:
- Be enrolled full-time in the MBChB Part IV programme.
- Be undertaking the Musculoskeletal attachment as part of the MBChB Part IV.
- Achieve the highest overall marks in the Musculoskeletal attachment, based on combined ward attachment and examination marks.
- Meet the standard of merit required (the University may choose not to award the Prize if no candidate meets the threshold).
Selection Process:
- Nomination is made to the Scholarships Office.
- The prize will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Head of the Department of Surgery.
Application Process:
Students do not need to apply for this scholarship. It is awarded on the recommendation of the relevant faculty or the University of Auckland committee.
