Eligibility Criteria for the Nicholas Tarling PhD Memorial Scholarship at Auckland University of Technology 2026:

• Applicant must propose research focused on Southeast Asia and its people, including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, or Viet Nam.
• Applicant must meet the normal admission requirements and hold an Offer of Place for the AUT Doctoral Programme.
• Applicant must meet AUT's English language proficiency requirements.
• Applicant must have an excellent academic record, strong academic references, and demonstrated research potential.
• Applicant must have a proposed field of study for which AUT can provide appropriate supervision.
• Applicant must preferably be a new doctoral applicant intending to study full-time.
• Applicant may be a New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or international student. Priority is given to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents, particularly where the research benefits New Zealand.
• Applicant must contact potential supervisors before applying to confirm supervision availability.

• Submit academic transcripts for previous tertiary study completed outside AUT.
