- Applicant must propose research focused on Southeast Asia and its people, including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, or Viet Nam.

- Applicant must meet AUT's English language proficiency requirements.
