The Narwhal Design Trust Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington
This scholarship was established in 2025 by the estate of the Hollins family. The Narwhal Design Trust Scholarship supports school leavers entering the Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. It particularly aims to assist students from rainbow communities and those passionate about community engagement.
Eligibility Criteria of The Narwhal Design Trust Scholarship:
- Applicants must be school leavers intending to study in the Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and be New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or residence class visa holders.
- Preference will be given to students from rainbow communities and those pursuing Media Design within the faculty.
Selection Criteria:
- Selection will be based on the strength of the applicant’s personal statement, demonstrating passion for their chosen field and community involvement, such as volunteering or grassroots participation.
- Financial hardship will also be a key consideration in the selection process.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Note:
- The scholarship will be paid as a stipend in two instalments, with the second instalment released in Trimester 2 after confirmation of continued enrolment and engagement.
