The Jennifer O Reilly Prize in Medieval History at University College Cork 2026

Introduction:

The James and Mary Hogan Prize in History honors Professor James Hogan and his wife, Mary, by recognizing excellence in historical research at University College Cork (UCC). The prize is awarded for the best seminar dissertation in history submitted as part of the BA (Hons) degree examination.

Eligibility criteria for the Jennifer O Reilly Prize in Medieval History at University College Cork:

• The applicants must be a current University College Cork student.
• The applicants must be enrolled in the BA History program.
• The prize is awarded in the following order:
  • To the student with the best BA seminar dissertation in Medieval History, achieving at least first-class honors.
  • If no dissertation meets the required standard, the prize is awarded to the student with the best written assignment in third-year medieval history.

Application Process:

There is no separate application required; the eligible students are considered automatically 

Value of the Scholarship:

A prize of EURO 100 is awarded to recognize outstanding achievement in Medieval History.
