Overview

The European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme offering 10-month residencies is an international researcher mobility programme in one of the 19 participating Institutes: Aarhus, Amsterdam, Jerusalem, Lyon, Berlin, Budapest, Cambridge, Delmenhorst, Helsinki,  Madrid, Marseille, Paris, Uppsala, Edinburgh, Bologna, Freiburg, Vienna, Warsaw, Zürich.

Eligibility

  • Applicants of the European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme should have a doctoral degree and also 2 years of full-time research experience upon completion of the degree. 
  • Law scholars are an exception. Law scholars, eligible and with a Master +6 years of full-time research experience upon the completion of the degree. (The calculation of experience excludes the PhD training).
  • The applicants of European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme can be from any country.
  • Researchers, at the time of application, should not have resided or carried out their main activity like studies or work etc in the country of the selected host institute for more than 12 months in the 3 years.
  • Short stays, holidays and compulsory national service are not taken into consideration.

Field of Study

  • The applicants of European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme can be of any discipline in the fields of humanities and social sciences.
  • Applications from the arts, life and exact sciences are also accepted but the research project should not be requiring any intensive laboratory work.
  • The research project, the candidate working on should interface with humanities and social sciences.
  • The candidates applying should have a proven capacity to dialogue with other scientific disciplines.
  • Applicants should apply to an IAS (Institutes of Advanced Study), that welcomes scholars outside the social sciences and humanities.

Value of the award

  • The successful applicants of the European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme will receive a living allowance (in the range of € 26,000 for a junior fellow and € 38,000 for a senior fellow), an accommodation (or a mobility allowance), a research budget and also covers the travel expenses.
