Teresia Teaiwa Memorial Postgraduate Scholarship in Pacific Studies at Victoria University of Wellington
This scholarship supports postgraduate students of Pacific Islands descent and honours Associate Professor Teresia Teaiwa, a renowned scholar, activist, and poet at Victoria University of Wellington. It recognises her legacy in Pacific Studies and her dedication to teaching, leadership, and supporting Pacific students.
Eligibility Criteria of Teresia Teaiwa Memorial Postgraduate Scholarship:
- Applicants must be of Pacific Islands descent.
- Applicants must be enrolling in a postgraduate programme at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington to complete an Honours, Master's, or Doctorate in Pacific Studies.
Selection Criteria:
- Open to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or international students of Pacific Islands descent enrolling in a postgraduate Pacific Studies programme at Victoria University of Wellington.
- Covers full tuition fees, with any remaining funds paid as a stipend in instalments.
- Selection based on scholarly ability, financial need, and commitment to Pacific communities and issues.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: NZD 10,000.
Note:
- Recipients must write a letter of thanks to Teresia’s family and may be asked to meet with family members.
- Recipients will also be asked to act as an ambassador for this scholarship and may be asked to be involved in events or promotional activities associated with Pacific Studies and the University.
