Overview

Description:

Up to three scholarships are provided by the University of Tasmania annually to support Tasmanian Asylum seekers to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate coursework studies.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be a person who is residing in Australia at the time of application and who is commencing undergraduate study in Semester 2, 2024, and who is:
    • on a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV), or
    • applying for a Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV), or
    • on an equivalent bridging visa, or
    • seeking asylum in Australia
  • Preference will be given to applicants already residing in Tasmania at the time of application.
  • Applicants will be assessed on demonstrated involvement in their local community, commitment to education, and financial need.

Retaining the Scholarship:

  • To retain this scholarship, students are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
  • Remain on one of the above-listed visas (noting that when a refugee or humanitarian visa is granted, the student is eligible for FEE-HELP).

Value of the Scholarship:

The successful applicants are awarded a discount towards tuition.
