Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2026-2027

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships, awarded by the Swiss Confederation through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS/ESKAS), aim to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 countries. These scholarships support talented early-career researchers and artists to pursue advanced studies or research in Switzerland.

Eligibility Criteria for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2026–2027:

Applicants must:

• Be citizens of eligible countries.
• Hold a Master’s degree or PhD before starting the scholarship.
• Obtain a supervision/acceptance letter from a Swiss professor or institution.
• Submit a high-quality research or artistic proposal.
• Apply via the Swiss Embassy in their home country (free of charge).
• Not have lived in Switzerland for more than one year before applying

Value of Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2026–2027:

• Research Scholarships: Approx. CHF 1,920 per month (living allowance).
• PhD Scholarships: Approx. CHF 1,920 per month.
• Postdoctoral Scholarships: Approx. CHF 3,500 per month.
• Art Scholarships: Amount varies by institution and level.
