Summer Research Scholarship Programme at Victoria University of Wellington 

The Summer Research Scholarship Programme provides students with the opportunity to work alongside globally recognised researchers in a local setting, gaining practical research experience. Depending on the project, students may develop skills in data collection, analysis, literature reviews, interviewing, specialised software, or laboratory techniques.

Eligibility Criteria of Summer Research Scholarship Programme: 

  1. The scholarship is open to students who have completed at least two years of their undergraduate degree and are currently enrolled in an undergraduate, Honours, or first-year Master’s programme at any Australian or New Zealand university.
  2. Students enrolled in a PhD or Master’s by thesis programme are not eligible.

Application Process: 

  1. Complete online applications and all required supporting documents (including references) must be submitted by 4:30 pm, Monday, 22 September 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  2. After closing, students are shortlisted, notified of the outcome, and successful recipients must accept the scholarship, agree to its conditions, and provide their bank details.

Award: The scholarship is valued at a minimum tax-free stipend of NZD 8,000.

Note: Recipients must submit an application for enrolment to Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington for the 2026 academic year by 31 October 2025 to be eligible for the scholarship. In cases where students are moving on to PhD study, they must have applied by the 1 November 2025 round but not be starting their doctoral study until the end of the summer research period.
