Overview

The Sport Scholarship programme at the University of Portsmouth supports high-performing athletes in excelling both academically and in their sport, offering financial aid, training, and academic flexibility to help balance their dual commitments.

Eligibility Criteria for the Sports Scholarship:

  • Application is open to all students, irrespective of nationality, year of study, or academic course.
  • Applicants must be of national standard or above in their sport.
  • Applicants must fulfil the normal entry requirements for the course for which they are applying or/currently studying.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled or applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course at the University of Portsmouth.
  • Applicants must be committed to Team UOP and willing to represent the University in BUCS competitions where possible.

Application Process:

Applications open in January each year and are awarded at the start of the academic year in September.

Value of the Sports Scholarship:

  • Around 20 talented student athletes are awarded a scholar package each year, worth between £2,000 and £6,000. 
  • Other benefits include strength and conditioning sessions, physio, sports massage, lifestyle, and academic support.

Note: The scholarship is not available to students at UoP London.
