Ruth and Roger Hopkins PhD Scholarship in Accounting and Financial Governance at Victoria University of Wellington 

The Ruth and Roger Hopkins PhD Scholarship was established in 2024 through a bequest by Mrs Ruth Hopkins and Emeritus Professor Roger Hopkins to support PhD students researching Accounting and Financial Governance at Victoria University of Wellington. Inspired by their own academic journeys, they aimed to create opportunities for students to advance in this field.

Eligibility Criteria of Ruth and Roger Hopkins PhD Scholarship in Accounting and Financial Governance:

1. Applicants must be enrolled or intending to enrol full-time in a PhD in the School of Accounting and Commercial Law.
2. Both domestic and international students are eligible, and previous recipients may reapply.

Selection Criteria: Selection will be made primarily on academic merit.

Application Process:

1. Applicants must meet Victoria University of Wellington’s Doctoral entry requirements.
2. New Doctoral applicants should complete the online Doctoral Admission and Scholarship application and indicate their interest in the Ruth and Roger Hopkins PhD Scholarship.
3. Applicants may need to provide evidence of financial hardship or supporting documents like personal statements or references.

Award: NZD 20,000.

Note:

1. The scholarship will be paid directly to the student as monthly instalments and may be awarded fully to one recipient or split between two recipients at the committee’s discretion.
2. Recipients must submit a thank you letter within one month and a Progress Report at the end of the year, both to be forwarded to the family of Ruth and Roger Hopkins.
