Eligibility Criteria for the Refugee Bursary at University of Essex 2026:
Applicants must:
- Be verified as one of the following:
- A UK refugee who has not yet been granted settlement, or
- A dependant of a UK refugee who has not yet been granted settlement, or
- Granted leave under one of the following schemes (or a dependent of someone granted leave under these schemes):
- Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme
- Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy Scheme
- Ukrainian Family Scheme
- Homes for Ukraine Scheme
- Ukraine Extension Scheme
- Be assessed as paying Home fees and be entirely self-funded (including students with tuition fee loans).
- Be registered at the University of Essex on a full-time or substantial part-time undergraduate or postgraduate course for the 2025–26 academic year.
- Have applied for and been approved for funding from Student Finance England (SFE) or another UK funding provider, with the University of Essex as the chosen institution.
- Provide consent for sharing funding data.
- Undergraduate students must have undergone a means-tested assessment for funding
Value of Refugee Bursary at University of Essex 2026:
- Full-time students: £1,500 per year
- Part-time students: £750 per year
