Quentin-Baxter Memorial Scholarships at Victoria University of Wellington
The Quentin-Baxter Memorial Scholarship, funded by donations from staff, students, government departments, and friends of Professor Quentin-Baxter, provides financial support to students studying or researching in the Faculty of Law at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. It aims to recognize academic merit and may also assist students experiencing financial hardship.
Eligibility Criteria of Quentin-Baxter Memorial Scholarships:
- Applicant must be enrolled in one or more second-year law courses at VUW and intend to complete their LLB at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
- Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident.
Selection Criteria:
- In even years, the scholarship is for full-time Māori students in second-year law courses intending to complete an LLB at Te Herenga Waka.
- In odd years, it is for full-time Pasifika students in second-year law courses with the same intention.
- Selection considers financial need, personal qualities, academic ability, and contribution to the Māori or Pasifika community.
Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award: Up to NZD 3,500 over three years paid as a stipend.
Note:
- Recipients of this scholarship will be awarded NZD 1,500 in their first year, and NZD 1,000 in their second and third years respectively (provided the student achieves satisfactory academic progress as determined by the Faculty of Law).
- There is no objection to this scholarship being held in conjunction with other scholarships and prizes.
