Quantum 2032 Challenge Scholarship at University of Southern Queensland
University of Southern Queensland is offering a PhD scholarship to develop advanced semiconductor-based wearable sensors that measure forces and joint angles with ultrahigh sensitivity, aiming to prevent injuries in pre-elite youth athletes and support Brisbane 2032 Olympic medal hopes. Candidates with backgrounds in mechanical, electrical, or biomedical engineering and experience in micro/nanotechnology, semiconductors, or sensors are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours (Division A) from an Australian university or an equivalent qualification.
- The applicant must be eligible for full-time on-campus enrolment in the PhD program at UniSQ and be an international student or an Australian/New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.
Selection Criteria:
- The applicant’s academic achievement and research capability will be assessed, including class of honours or equivalent, postgraduate performance, academic prizes and awards, research publications, conference presentations, research internships, and evidence of creative works if applicable.
- The applicant’s proposed research project and environment, as well as the supervisory team, will be evaluated, including alignment with UniSQ research priorities, relevance to the Australian research context, external support, research impact, required resources, and the supervisory team’s expertise, publication record, and capacity to support the research.
Application Process:
- The applicant must have digital copies of the following to apply: Curriculum vitae, preliminary research thesis topic proposal (DOC 48KB), and education qualifications (testamur and academic transcripts for all undergraduate and postgraduate awards).
- List of research presentations and/or publications, documentation confirming citizenship, and evidence of English-language proficiency.
Awards: Stipend (living allowance), valued at 37,000 per annum.
Deadline: 28th February 2025.
Note:
- Successful international applicants will receive tuition fees for a period of 6 semesters, full-time equivalent, paid by UniSQ.
- The maximum period of the award is three years. Periods of study already undertaken towards the program will be deducted from the period of tenure
