Overview

The Helen Hay Whitney Foundation has initiated scholarships to support early postdoctoral research training in all basic biomedical sciences.

Eligibility for Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral Research Fellowships, 2026:

  • Applicants must have received a Ph.D. (or D.Phil. or equivalent) degree no more than two years before the application deadline, or an M.D. (or M.D.-Ph.D.) degree no more than four years before the deadline.
  • Applicants must have been employed in their postdoctoral laboratory for no more than one year before the application deadline.

Selection Criteria:

  • Screening by the Scientific Advisory Committee through an interview.
  • Selected Candidates will be called for a Final interview.
  • Selected candidates are approved for the fellowship by the votes of the Board of Trustees.

  • The candidates must submit the applications online at the Helen Hay Whitney Foundation website.
  • Candidates must refer to the 'Reference Letter Template' available on the website for drafting the reference letter.
  • Candidates are required to submit the required supporting documents. 

Value of Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral Research Fellowships, 2026:

  • Research allowance of USD 1500/year.
  • A stipend of
    • USD 73,000 (1st year),
    • USD 75,000(2nd year), 
    • USD 77,000 (3rd year).
  • Travel expenses.
